Prepare your subtitles

iPhone · iPad · Android

Prepare one or two subtitle tracks on iPhone, iPad or Android before the screening. Keep the files matched to the film’s release and cut.

  1. Import SRT or ZIP files from Files, a secure link, or another app, then assign each track’s role and language.
  2. Library keeps prepared films and their subtitle packages ready to use again.
  3. The player opens paused. Tap Play at the film’s first frame, then follow the subtitles in sync.

Prepared screenings remain available offline; online search and AI translation require an internet connection.

Find My Place

Use the floating transport buttons to move subtitles back or forward.

On supported phones, Find My Place uses the microphone and on-device speech recognition to match a few seconds of dialogue and recover your position.

Find My Place matches English or French dialogue subtitles. Other dialogue languages use manual timing.

Find My Place requires Android 13 or later; Android 12 uses manual timing controls.

Start Find My Place when clear dialogue is playing. It uses a short sample, not continuous listening or live translation. Microphone permission and available on-device speech resources are required. The reading language can differ from the supported dialogue language. If there is no reliable match, browse to a known line or use the timing controls.

SRT

Supports common SRT text encodings from different sources.

.srt · UTF-8 · UTF-16

Apple Watch

Keep recent prepared screenings on Apple Watch for offline bilingual playback, line browsing, and playback controls.

Prepare on iPhone first, then open CinemaCC on the paired Watch and check that the screening has transferred. Watch keeps up to five recent prepared screenings and can continue its own subtitle clock while iPhone is locked. Before the first screening, set Watch Settings → General → Return to Clock → CinemaCC → After 1 Hour. Use the Crown to browse and the control page to pause or adjust timing. Watch Find My Place asks a reachable, ready iPhone to listen; Watch does not recognize the dialogue itself.

Siri and Shortcuts — iOS 18+

CinemaCC actions can find movie subtitles, open a movie, search for the current movie, or show prepared films.

Press and hold the CinemaCC Home Screen icon to open Find subtitles, Library, or Import subtitles directly.

Library and sharing

Library keeps prepared films and their subtitle packages ready to use again.

Share a catalog-linked prepared film from its file actions. The link carries its prepared subtitle files; CinemaCC can also make a card with a scannable code. The recipient chooses a reading language and starts their own playback clock at the film.

Missing a subtitle language?

If a selected language has no matching subtitle, ask CinemaCC to notify you when one becomes available.

If no matching subtitle track is available, preview a source and optionally purchase one AI translation. Each purchase or credit covers one translation; completed results can be reused.

Choose a matching source before buying a translation, and review the result before arrival. Translation does not repair a different film cut or missing scenes. A notification request is not a guarantee that a suitable file will appear in time.

What to do when your subtitle language is missing

Offline playback and the Web player

The native apps keep prepared files for offline reuse. In Web, import one or two SRT files and keep that browser session open; do not rely on an offline reload or saved history. Online search, purchases, AI translation and notification services need a connection.

Even G2 setup

In the phone app, open Settings → Devices → Smart Glasses → Even G2 and export the prepared screening. In CinemaCC inside the Even app, LOAD opens that JSON package; SRT files is the separate route for individual reading and optional dialogue SRT files. Start and adjust timing manually.

Follow the current Even G2 tutorial

Subtitle content or rights concern

In the native app, open Settings > Help & Support > Subtitle issue and choose the downloaded result. CinemaCC will prepare an email with its OpenSubtitles file ID and release details; review the draft, describe the concern, and send it. You can also email haiyimei+cinemacc@gmail.com with the work title, OpenSubtitles file ID or enough detail to identify the result, relevant territory, and your authority to act. CinemaCC can review how the result appears in the app and forward a provider-hosted-file request to OpenSubtitles; CinemaCC cannot delete a file hosted by OpenSubtitles.
