Prepare before the screening

Your Subtitle Language Is Missing: What to Prepare Before the Film

A missing language needs a preparation decision before you reach the cinema. Start with the film version and an available source, then choose the route that can actually produce a usable file.

The short answer

Search for the right film and reading language first. If you have a matching subtitle file elsewhere, import it. If CinemaCC offers an eligible source, you can preview it and optionally buy an AI translation before the screening. If no suitable file is available, request a notification where offered and keep another viewing option ready. A listing or translation does not prove that the subtitles match the theatrical cut.

If you already have a file

  1. Confirm the film title, year, release, runtime and cut when available.
  2. Import the SRT or ZIP in the native app. Assign the track’s role and language.
  3. One reading track is enough for manual playback. Add a second track when you want both languages.
  4. Check a clear line at the opening and another later scene. A different cut needs a different file; repeated timing nudges will not restore missing scenes.

If you choose AI translation

Choose the offered source and preview it before confirming the displayed store purchase or using an available credit. Each purchase or credit covers one translation. Translation happens online; wait for the task to finish and check the completed file in the film’s language choices or Library. Completed results can be reused.

Review names, important dialogue and timing before arrival. Translation preserves the source’s limitations: it cannot add absent scenes or turn a file for another release into the correct theatrical timeline. CinemaCC does not translate the cinema soundtrack live.

If you ask for a notification

Use the notification action when the selected language has no matching result and the app offers it. Follow the phone’s notification permission prompt if you want an alert. A new result still needs your own release and timing check; a request does not promise a suitable subtitle before the showtime.

Finish preparation before you leave

  • Open the prepared film from Library and confirm the selected tracks are ready.
  • Keep native files available for offline playback; search, purchases, translation and notification services need a connection.
  • Tap Enter theater. The native player opens paused; press Play at the film’s first frame.
  • Find My Place uses a short on-device sample on supported phones with English or French dialogue subtitles and available speech resources. Other dialogue languages and Web use manual timing.
  • If no reliable file is ready, use the cinema’s subtitle/accessibility options or choose another screening.
